Pear Star Anise Tea
This recipe is inspired by the Pear Vanilla Tea in the book, The Eczema Detox. Both pear and vanilla are said to have anti inflammatory properties, but since I didn’t have any vanilla beans, I did a little research on star anise - which I did have - and it is also said to have anti inflammatory benefits. This tea can be enjoyed hot or cold!
2-3 Star Anise
4 pears (not nashi, asian, or ya)
8 cups filtered water
Boil 8 cups of filtered water in a pot
While it comes to a boil, peel and cube your pears.
When boiling, drop in your pear cubes and star anise. Let boil for 10-12 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to save the boiled pears for another recipe. (I put mine in the freezer to either blend into a smoothie or sorbet later on.) You can use a sieve to separate the remaining star anise and pear bits from the tea. Serve hot, or store in the fridge for an iced tea version. The pears and star anise give this tea enough sweetness and flavor on their own, so I did not sweeten it any further than this.
